Display media files in tree structure and library permission control

Liya Han asked on December 19, 2018 03:38

Hi there, We currently need to display different media libraries according to office locations and allow specific role/user to manage files in media library on live site. I already created a group and added a role(file admin, with user Eve in this role),two media libraries(A & B) into the group. I set Authorized roles to file admin security property for media library A.
Then I put the Group media libraries web part on the page and login with Eve. But she can manage both A and B media libraries on live site. I only want Eve to manage A library. Did I do something wrong?

Thanks in advance for your time!

Hi,
Could you please remove the permissions in the Permissions application for the Media Library module for given roles and set the permissions just for the particular media library? If the role has the permissions for the Media Library module, then users in this role can see and manage any media library.

Hi Juraj,

Thanks for your attention on this issue.

I removed the permission for Media Library Module. However, if i un-check the "Can manage the group" for the role or user, They couldn't see any media libraries in this group no matter whether this role/user has the full permission (security tab when edit media library) or not.

By the way, can I add site related media library instead of group media library on live site?

Thanks

Hi,
Is there a particular reason why are you using Groups? You can also use the site related media libraries and display them on the live site.
