Disappearing property in online-form widget

Jeroen Harpe asked on May 7, 2020 03:52

Hi,

For one of our clients we've an issue with the "Use update Panel" property in the online form widget. We've set the "Use update property" to be displayed in the configuration. However sometimes the whole category (Ajax) and the “use update panel’ property will randomly disappear from the widget configuration. It will show up again after clearing the cache.

There are no conditions on the category or property for being displayed. It's the default online-form widget without any custom properties. There are no logs in the event log as well. Does anyone have an idea in which direction we've to look to fix this?

Thanks,

Jeroen

Does this happen to all instances of the widget at the same time? Or, does it happen to instances added before you changed the setting or to newly added instances? I am unable to reproduce the issue on fresh Kentico 12 instance. I tried Kentico 12 since you did not mentioned the version so, if you are using an older version, it is possible that there was a bug which was already fixed.
If you can observe any pattern or steps how to reproduce, it would be much appreciated.

Hi Juraj,

Thanks for your response. I forgot to mention that it's Kentico 11 (v11.0.49). We can’t reproduce the issue as well. The bug doesn't happen on creating a new widget. It happens at random times, usually at the end of the day. When it happens, it occurs to all the online form widgets.

We never had this issue on our Kentico 12 instances. You think it might be an Kentico 11 bug?

I tried it on K11 as well and no luck. Everything works fine. I would need to know the steps how to reproduce the issue at will to take a further look. If there is any custom code in the project, I Would try disabling it to see if it makes any difference. If clearing the cache fixes the issue for some time, there is something wrong going on - especially since the Admin UI pages and editing mode are not cached. This is really strange.

Hi Jeroen,

We experienced similar behavior sometimes on one of our Kentico 10 websites. It seemed to be connected to precompiled websites. We ended up disabling precompilation and it helped. Do you have your website deployed as precompiled or not?

The website is quite large so there's a chance custom code is somehow causing this. We tried to do some debugging earlier but couldn't figure it out. We might have to dig deeper in the custom code to find the issue.

@Dmitry Thanks for your response. We're not using precompilation for deploying on this site.
