Direct uploaded files

Mateusz Żebrowski asked on March 13, 2015 10:19

I'm using Kentico 7.

On my site I used direct file uploader to upload images for custom document types. Now I need to find where those files are on server. To which folder Kentico put them?

Hi,

did you turn on Redirect files to disk in Settings? In there you can specify folder. If you didn't specify then it is: site code name/files, metafiles. Named by guid.

If you want to check where you files are stored (DB/file system) best way is to open System > Files > Metadata or Attachments.

P.S. I would also recommend using Media Library.

Thanks a lot. Could you tell me how to restore files from DB to file system? All my files are in DB but I need them on disk.

Hi Mateus,

If you have used file storing in database option and you have changed this option to storing files in file system, Kentico CMS will store new files in file system and if there is request for particular file, system will try to find the file firstly in file system. If there is no such file in file system it will try to find that file in database and then if the file exists and option storing files in file system is used, the file is copied into file system automatically.

Of course, if you don't want to replace/reupload all the files manually.

Regards, Martin
