Custom Filter to SQL data source

I have a SQL data source connecting to an external SQL database and using a basic repeater to display the data. Now want to filter the data source using a custom filter by providing the filter name to it. There is no option to attach the filter to the SQL Data source.

Does anyone know how to do this? FYI, i'm using Kentico 8.2

I believe the FilterName of the filter has to be the same as the sql datasource webpart ID.

Hi Brenden, Thanks for your reply. There is no FilterName option for SQL DataSource webpart. I tried to create a custom datasource but how does it work even if i add a new property "Filter" to it when we use "QueryText/Storedprocedure" to get the data. Is it possible to give the table name and FilterName to SQL Datasource webpart like other datasource webparts? If yes, could you please point me to some article/documentation how to do achieve it?
