Clone module not visible for Global Administrator on Left Applicaation Menu

Suman Layek asked on September 19, 2016 17:50

Version 8.2 User :- Global Administrator I need to do some custom coding on the Events module and don't want to change the Kentico's default module and that is why I have cloned the Events Module and named it "Our Events" and set code name OUR.Events(Not CMS prefix as Kentico recommendations). My expectation was to see the cloned module under "Social and Community" section on left admin menu but it is not displaying. I have also checked permissions and UI personalization section and got everything same as Events(source module) Am I doing anything wrong or missing to do something else ? Can you please assist me on this.

Have you created the User Interface for the module yet? Under the module, select the User Interface section. You may have to rename or update some of the code names for it to work properly.

Thanks Brenden for your quick reply. No, I haven't done anything explicitly but Yes, as I have cloned the Events(CMS.EventManager) module to create the New module it automatically created all the child or nested objects and can see on User Interface section of the module all code names are appropriate. The first thing is I want to see the module listed under "Social and Community" section and then I will modify all the default Events code files(.aspx).

Have you ever created any module by cloning other module ? Is there anything extra need to do to show the module under Left menu (Like registering custom module on code etc.) ?

On cloning window I have choosen the following settings New object display name: Our Events New object code name: OUR.EventManager

Delete clone on failure : true Keep fields localized: false Clone child objects: true Clone children up to level: All levels Assign to current site: true Clone site bindings: true Clone module permissions: true

Assign that cloned module to the Custom module.

Thanks Jan Hermann for your reply. Does it mean it is not possible to keep the custom modules on specific sections other than Custom ?

It's not about a section in the application list. It's the configuration of the UI element of the module where you need to assign any custom module to some custom module as well. And also make sure the module is assigned to your site (Sites -> site -> Assigned objects -> Modules)
