Alternative form for check-out process

Martin Shin asked on March 3, 2015 00:11

Hi. Is it possible to create alternative form for Check-out process? For example, I want to place calendar (date & time picker) into one of the steps of check-out process. How can I do it? Is it possible?

Are you using Kentico 8? If so, you can completely customize the checkout process. Here is a good article to get you started: http://devnet.kentico.com/articles/kentico-8-technology-checkout-process-customization

Virgil, thank you for the answer. I have another question about additional functionality in check-out process.

Is it possible to create new custom form in Modules - E-commerce section. And if it possible, where I should do it? In which of class?

I think, I can add additional field and tune transformation for it and nothing more. Am I right?

Thanks!

You could create a new custom form in any of the modules, but it really depends on your use case whether that is a good idea or not. I would suggest if you are going to use existing fields from the e-commerce module as part of your custom form, then adding your own class inside that module could be a good strategy.

To really understand how the Module concept works and how to plug into it appropriately, I would recommend reading the series of Kentico articles written by Martin Hejtmanek. He has written about 6 so far and it deep dives on module development best practices and should lead you to the best answer to your needs. Here is the first article in the series: http://devnet.kentico.com/articles/module-development-introduction
