New and Free at the Marketplace: Web part for rendering canonical links

Useful SEO add-on to Kentico CMS newly available at the marketplace
Martin Hejtmanek already explained the two simple approaches of adding the canonical link element to the Kentico CMS in his blog post. Newly, RBN Tech, a Kentico Certified Partner from Russia, offered a "Canonical link" Web part at the Kentico Marketplace for free.

To put the concept of canonical links simple, imagine that you have a set of pages that have the same or very similar content so you might want the search engines to think of all of them as they are only one page – or more accurately to show the search engine the preferred version of them. And that’s what is achievable by using the canonical link element.  For more on the concept and its impact on SEO, I would recommend you to read the following article, or watch the introduction video.

The invisible "Canonical link" Web part from RBN Tech allows you to take the advantage of the canonical concept in a easy way. If you add the Web part at some particular document (i.e. page) all its aliases or its linked documents will contain the canonical tag, thus they will point to the original document (canonical page). You can also add the "Canonical" field to any document type within Kentico, so for every single document within the system the canonical page can be defined. The optional “lang” parameter of the Web part can be used to specify the document culture.

As always with submissions from RBN Tech, the Web part is well described in the documentation which is included in the package.

You can find the "Canonical link" Web part in here.
