Kentico CMS 6 Release Schedule

   —
As we are approaching to Kentico CMS 6, we would like to update you on the release schedule.

As you know, we've been working on version 6 for more than one year and we are finally coming to the final release. We originally planned to launch Kentico CMS 6 in September and although all features are finished, we still need to fix several defects. Thus, we decided for the following release schedule:

  • Friday, September 23 - Denver Pre-release - this version will be feature complete, but may contain some defects; it's recommended that you use it only if you need some of the new features. It will be available to the Kentico Connection attendees in Denver and to anybody else upon request sent to support@kentico.com.
  • Monday, October 10 - Final Release and an automated upgrade procedure from the Denver Pre-release version
  • Monday, October 17 - an automated upgrade procedure from Kentico CMS 5.5 R2 to Kentico CMS 6

I'm sorry for this minor delay. We had to make a decision between launching in September or releasing a stable product that follows our quality standards and we decided for the later. We've been working hard to build a reputation of a stable CMS platform and we do not want to compromise our values and cause any troubles to our clients.

Still, if you need to start a new project with version 6, you will be able to use the Denver Pre-release version and then easily upgrade to the final version (it will be only a few updated files and DLLs and it will be automated with our new Kentico Installation Manager).

Version 6 Denver Pre-release and the Final Release will include both Kentico CMS and the new Kentico EMS.

Again, I'm very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Thank you.

Thanks for the update Petr! I think I speak for most here, we'd rather wait for a quality product than have to deal with problems. Can't wait for 6.0!
