Is there a GoDaddy install guide?
I want to try and install the CMS on GoDaddy and I was about to get past a few of the issues with installing but it seems like almost every step I had to change something. I was able to copy over all 10000 files to my GoDaddy account and I created an MSSQL database. I then removed a few things from my web.config and added in the connection string. I was also able to install the Corp template without any issues but when I tried to run the site I got this message:
VirtualPathProvider is not running, you need to export the virtual object to the file system to run the web site. Go to Site manager -> Administration -> System -> Deployment to export the objects. Continue to the Site manager
I tried to do that step and it says:
Access to the path 'd:\hosting\******\CMSTransformations' is denied (I took out my hosting name ****)
I'm 90% there for installing it with GoDaddy but I have that last little step.
Thanks

RE:Is there a GoDaddy install guide?
Hi, Unfortunately there is no guide. Many customers are using this hosting provider. Therefore we have asked them for some kind of partnership - we only needed a free testing account where our tester could test the installation to see what is needed to do. But their answers were very general - like autoresponder. I am sorry for the inconvenience. Here you can find list of our hosting partners where we have tested our CMS with no problems - http://www.kentico.com/Partners/Hosting-Partners.aspx. Best Regards, Juraj Ondrus

RE:Is there a GoDaddy install guide?
If I can get you access to an account then what sort of account would you need? I have a bunch of different hosting with them and some of it is not in use so I don't mind sharing my account information to get a proper install guide working. Just let me know what account you need and I will get it setup for you.

RE:Is there a GoDaddy install guide?
Yes I'm a reseller for GoDaddy so I can get you an account and I will cover the cost of the account for now. I want to offer Kentico to my customers so its worth the investment if you can get it running with GoDaddy.
How long do you think you will need the account for?

RE:Is there a GoDaddy install guide?
Just thought I'd throw in that I have GoDaddy.com and was able to install Kentico without a problem. I used some of the same instructions that Kentico has for any other hosting site.. namely when you run the Kentico Web Installer, opt for the remote server install. FTP the files over to your godaddy site.
While you are ftping, I found that I needed to create a database first using GoDaddy's host manager tools first since Kentico won't be able to do it.
When done ftping and db is created, browse to your site and start the installation. Also on a seperate browser have the GoDaddy host manager ready.
When you run through the installation and it gets to the directories that it can't access because godaddy is on a medium trust, all I did was use the host manager tools from GoDaddy to create the directories it needed, then adjust the permissions on those directories so that it had read AND write permissions and continued on with the installation.
The nice thing about the Kentico installation is that it will run into and error and stop and if you continue after you fix one problem it'll stop and let you know the next error that you can fix and then continue (or maybe its actually restarting *shrug*).. doing it this way I was able to complete the installation perfectly.
Good Luck!!

RE:Is there a GoDaddy install guide?
Indeed, I've helped customers to install Kentico on GoDaddy in the past also.
It's been a little sticky, but that's just been down to how slow the GoDaddy control panel is in general.
There are a few tricks to improve usabillity of the Kentico CMS Desk and Site Manager under a GoDaddy free account also. For anyone not already aware, GoDaddy puts advertising in every frame for free account holders. For CMSDesk, this results in the toolbars etc. disappearing out of sight and becoming unusable.
The trick simple sets the visibility of the HTML element containing the ad to hidden. GoDaddy don't change the element id, its static, and therefore you can write some javascript to find and set the visibility quite easily.
I wouldn't condone applying this javascript to your public facing site, the bit that your visitors see, in fact technically you're breaching their terms if you apply it at all, but I can't see much harm being done for just the cmsdesk so that at least you can using Kentico to create content for the website that will then deliver adverts to visitors.

RE:Is there a GoDaddy install guide?
Greetings: Are there any updates to installing on a GoDaddy deluxe hosting account (not dedicated server account)? I have customers and would like to offer this product to them, but they will not pay for dedicated hosting for the volume of traffic they have.
Any help or whitepaper on how to install at GoDaddy would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

RE:Is there a GoDaddy install guide?
Hi all,
I hope that later this week there will be a knowledge base article available. We have tried one installation so far and everything went without problems according to the description in developer's guide - installation on shared hosting. One note - GoDaddy is using Medium trust, so you need to deploy the virtual objects to disk.
Now I am trying to test it one more time on different account, but I have problems to make the domain name live via the GoDaddy interface.
Best Regards, Juraj Ondrus
