Web Analytics with localhost

Douglas Fittipaldi asked on August 29, 2022 16:13

I have a Kentico 13 install on my local machine using this tutorial and I wanted to see how the Web Analytics report looked, so I enabled it based on this but it doesn't seem to be working. The report is blank. Also, in the Settings section where you enable the analytics there is a message that says "Current site MEDIOClinic does not inherit this global value, changing this setting won't change current site behavior." Will this not work using localhost? Do I need to come up with a URL and modify my HOSTS file to have that URL resolve to localhost? Or am I just missing something in my configuration? Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi Douglas,

Did you get this working? I installed Kentico 13 with the .NET Core Dancing Goat sample site, turned on the Web Analytics setting as you mentioned and the report is showing data on my localhost.

There might be differences between the Medio Clinic and Dancing Goat sites. If you compare both solutions you might be able to find the cause.

Cheers, Jeroen

Hi Jeroen:

Thanks for answering but I think I went another route. This question is from months ago so I don't even exactly remember what I was trying to accomplish in the first place. In any case there are no roadblocks now.
