Smart search index out of sync

Nicole Johnson asked on May 20, 2015 13:36

We have our own smart search index setup to cover a particular folder of news items and it all works great except the index needs rebuilding a lot!

The current status of the index is this:

Indexed items: 0
Index file size: 52 B
Index status: Ready
Optimized: Yes
Last update: 3/4/2015 1:32:22 PM
Last rebuild: 5/18/2015 9:49:32 AM

So it is showing as being ready and optimized, but has 0 indexed items.

If I manually rebuild it I then get this:

Indexed items: 124
Index file size: 1.6 MB
Index status: Ready
Optimized: Yes
Last update: 5/20/2015 12:32:16 PM
Last rebuild: 5/20/2015 12:32:16 PM

And it all works beautifully. So the question is does anyone know how to stop it getting out of sync or how I can add some sort of scheduled task to keep rebuilding it so I don't have to keep checking and doing it manually?

Hi,

there is Scheduled task Optimize search indexes and Execute search tasks. I think by default it is disabled. So you can set when to run.

Here is more info: https://docs.kentico.com/display/K8/Monitoring+search+indexing+tasks

Hi,

I have just checked the results of this following the weekend and it doesn't appear to have worked. I think the task I need is to actually Rebuild Indexes, do you know if there is any such task I can add to the schedule?

Thanks
