Smart Search Comes up Empty

Andre Pfanz asked on December 27, 2016 18:06

We are using Kentico 9.0 and are having a problem with the smart search that is returning no results on the frontend. Here are the settings in the admin area:

If I use the "Search preview" screen, I do get results based on the fact the paging elements appear, but the results themselves don't:

Does anyone have any ideas on what I should do? Thanks.

It looks like the default search transformation was either modified or removed.

Jan, How would I go about finding the default search transformation?

Hi Andre,

You can check 'indexed content' tab, to see what your search index contain. By default, in transformation is used 'Title', 'Content' etc. If you removed that from your page types, maybe you can't match any of this fields and because of that you got empty transformation. You can check this by going on the page types -> your_page_type-> search fields and check this fields.

Also you can use Lucene tool to check if everything is okay with your indexer.
