Re-Subscribe a Contact Who Has Unsubscribed from an Email Feed

Daniel Maley asked on March 5, 2018 21:07

Hello,

Is it possible to "re-subscribe" a contact who has chosen to unsubscribe from an email feed? We are running Kentico EMS 11, we have a test contact who unsubscribed from an email feed via a link in the email. We would now like to re-subscribe the contact to the same email feed, this does not appear possible through the UI? I can delete the contact from the recipient list, however, when I re-add they remain unsubscribed? Any idea on this, seems pretty basic.

Not sure, but check select * from Newsletter_Unsubscription. If a record with contact email is there, you probably can delete it.

Hi Daniel,

I don't know if you already tried this ('I can delete the contact from the recipient list, however, when I re-add they remain unsubscribed'), but it should be possible to re-add contact again. When contacts are unsubscribed, they should be moved to opt-out list. If you remove contact (email address) from there, it should receive all marketing emails again. Check this link for more info: https://docs.kentico.com/k11/on-line-marketing-features/managing-your-on-line-marketing-features/email-marketing/managing-marketing-email-recipients#Managingmarketingemailrecipients-Removingrecipientsoptedoutfromallmarketingemails

Best regards, Dragoljub

Hi Dragoljub Ilic!

I see the opt out list for all marketing emails. However, I do not think there is an opt out list for a particular email feed. In this instance the contact unsubscribed from a particular email feed. They are listed under "recipients" for the feed but are unsubscribed. There is no available action to edit them and reset their subscribed status.

Hi Peter Mogilnitski!

Yes this is what I have been forced to do. I was hoping our marketers could complete this through the portal without SQL. I can certainly envision a scenario where a contact may have accidentally unsubscribed from an email feed and wants to be re-subscribed, it does not appear that is currently supported through the portal :/.
