Naresh Ede asked on January 8, 2018 07:37

Hi All

I was exported the site in one environment.

Now i was trying to import the site in another environment.

So the problem is , all the objects in site are imported except Pages(documents in content tree).

If anybody faced this problem earlier, please help me.

Thanks

So than it's not in the package.

On your source-environment:

  • check if the page type the root is using is connected to the site you are exporting from!
  • check if that same root page type is selected during your export

do another export and check if the root node now is present in your export package.

Hi,

My first wild guess is you either have a mismatch in the root page, or it's page type isn't appointed to your current site.

Did you import it as a new site or into an existing one?

Any errors during import or in the Event log?

Can you double check you've exported the pages, and checkbox was ticked to import them?

Thanks for responding,

Properly selected the pages object while exporting the package.

I'm trying to import into the existing site.

So just verified that, both the root documents and other documents have same NodeGUID and PageGUID in both environments. And both the documents have same (root)type assigned.

No errors were logged in the event log

Thanks

Can you import your package as a new site, just to see if you package is complete!

Also check the details during the import and let us know if any errors or warnings are displayed.

Can you look directly in the package to see if the the root and other documents are present at all?

The package is a .zip file containing .xml files defining all data.

It should look something like this: Image Text

Hi David,

There is no NodeGUID of root present in that xml file.

And one more thing i observed is, all documents GUID s are found except that <cms.root> NodeGUID.

So what further steps i have to do now ?

Thanks david,

Imported the new package after assigning theCurrent site to <cms.root> page type.

So now i'm getting all the pages present in content tree, but content of already existed pages were not updated.

can you guess what i missed?

Great, glad to help!

When importing into an existing site, only new pages can be imported. Existing pages will not be overwritten. docs.kentico.com/.../importing-a-site-or-objects

If you just want to override everything guess it's easiest to just delete all pages on your target environment before running the import.

Best way of 'deploying ' content changes is to use Kentico Staging
