Issue with dates - Content Staging

Sukh kumar asked on February 16, 2021 15:09

Hi All,

I am below issue

  • I have created a page and "Posted Date" is set as "02/15/2021". While pushing/sync the page to other environment the "Posted Date" is being changed to "02/14/2021".

The Server Time Zone is set as (UTC-06.00) Central Time(US & Canada) and Site Time Zone is set as (UTC-05.00) Eastern Time(US & Canada) for both the environments.

Any help is appreciated

Cheers,

Alternatively if you don't care about the time zones but don't want to adjust server settings, you either need to store the Date as a text or transform it back to it's origin timezone and just display date and time.

Is "Posted Date" a custom field you created? How is the data entered in there? Is it always off by a day?

  1. Yes "Posted Date" is a custom field.
  2. Date is entered through calendar control.
  3. What I found till now is while content staging the date is being converted to UTC -5.00 I guess e.g. if I am save date as 2/16/2021 1:38:27 AM , after content staging, the date is being converted to 2/15/2021 9:38:27 PM

Why are the 2 servers not sync? Wouldn't it make sense that it gets converted to resamble the same time?

Exactly it doesn't make sense. Even if I disable the time zone setting, it is still converting.

If they wouldn't adjust according to their own timezone it wouldn't be in sync anymore.

So why are the two systems not using the same timezone to begin with? How are these systems hosted?

Thanks, got the point. Both server timings are different. I was missing this point.
