Geolocation on local environment

Dražen Janjiček asked on February 4, 2020 07:34

Hi,

What I've seen a couple of times now, that the geo location and ASM information isn't updated for contacts on local developer machines. Could it be a permission issue for the DB files maybe? I mean, it's not like MaxMind is trying to reach those environments in any way.

Any experiences like this?

Thanks,

if it's your own local calls then indeed probably localhost. It won't even know which is the outside network. As it doesn't know where the incoming connection is on the same machine.

A quick check in the Eventlog should show you what the IP is of the last requests.

Would the environment in some way be connected to other machines? As in multiple devs use same DB or such?

Perhaps it's trying to fire up a tasks to another machine as a "WebFarm" but it can't reach it...

No, I’m able to reproduce on my local machine with local database. Web farm is in place but works, since an anonymous contact is being created. Just without country and company info. I wonder which IP it tries to match, 127.0.0.1 or the connected network?
