Facebook Connect Login

Eric Garrison asked on October 19, 2018 15:19

I am using the Facebook Connect webpart to allow users to login. It was working until a few weeks ago. The site looks like it is authenticating the people, but then when they are returned back to the page with the ?confirmation=string. The users are not being logged in. It just sits on the page. It should read the token from the confirmation URI and process. The Webpart just seems to be sleeping. This is a built in webpart from Kentico

The site is on v11.0.28. The process does work some after a IIS Reset.

Since it works after an IIS Reset it must be on your end. Can you reproduce the same issue on another machine/instance (local/develop/test/QA or something?)

I also tried this on other sites and server. It seems to happen on them also. I am not sure the issue is really related to the IIS Reset after all. Some users had the issue right after IIS Reset and never could get accounts to create. We also use the Dancing Goat demo and enabled. After a few user and QA, we found it happened on there also. Chrome and browsers may be causing part of the issue. We have determined, the Webpart is not executing the lookup or login phase. For now, we have dumped Facebook Connect. We have integration to Twitter and G+ working perfect.

I've had a quick look in breaking api changes for Facebook API, but didn't find anything with recent drop of support.

https://developers.facebook.com/docs/graph-api/changelog/breaking-changes

I'd suggest contact Kentico support directly (support@kentico.com)

Thanks David

We did not. We only removed facebook as an option. We started to re-code that webpart, but found a number of bugs due to old API, etc. It really got buggy and problematic when you did Facebook signin on an iPhone.
