Can I stop the system from resending dynamic newsletters?

Victor Carter asked on July 7, 2016 21:20

I have a newsletter that points to a page of generated content. The Enable Re Sending box is unchecked, yet every time I hit the send button I get another email. Is there a configuration setting that I am missing?

Thank You

if you set the page title the dynamic newsletter uses to ##DONOTSEND## the email will not send. I have previously created a custom macro to set the page title, and the custom macro would determine if the newsletter should send.

So I would set that after a send? Manually?

Hi Victor! The enable resending setting in the newsletter configuration means whether it's possible to resend already sent issue. But the Send button you are using is meant to generate and sent new issue every time it's pushed.

So when using a dynamic newsletter the only way to send(and only have it sent to a subscriber once) is via the scheduler? The actual "send" button is a forced send that generates a message every time? Just verifying that this is correct.

Thank You.

Scheduler and the Send button both do the same. These actions generate the new Issue and send it to the subscribers.

In case you'd like to see how the Issue looks like you should use the Draft functionality. This creates the new issue but sends it only to the specified email address(es). Than you can edit this issue and send it to the subscribers (this doesn't generate other issue and the content you saw will be sent to the subscribers).
