Can I nest content from a hybrid page template?

I created a hybrid page template "parent" which contains a webzone. I added a page placeholder control in this template.

Then, I created a portal page and tried to nest the content from the "parent" page. Unfortunately, I could not see any content from the parent page on this new portal page.

Kentico v8.1

Please advise if it is possible to do

Documentation says that you can't mix portal and ASPX pages together: Note: When you create a website with both ASPX template and portal engine pages, you cannot use page nesting between the two different types of pages.
