Applying Hotfixes to Kentico Azure Website

Vic Alfred Inting asked on October 19, 2014 07:20

Hey Guys, I'm using 7.0.11 deployed as a Website through Microsoft Azure's portal. This means I did not have a local instance of Kentico and had it up and running all from Azure.

The problem I'm having is about applying hotfixes. I tried to import a package provided by a client but I kept getting an error that I'm unable to do so as I'm importing a site from a later hotfix (61) as opposed to the one I'm on (11).

I've went to the hotfixes page and got the one for 7.0.61 but it looks like an executable you have to apply to a local instance.

I stumbled upon this, specifically the 8th question: http://devnet.kentico.com/articles/kentico-cms-windows-azure-deployment-guide

And it looks like it's not possible at all to apply the hotfix directly to a web instance without doing it locally and then deploying it.

Has anyone encountered the same issue? Thanks!

Hi Vic,
You should deploy the hotfix according to hotfix instructions for remote installation. You can find hotfix instructions in the folder you’ve installed the hotfix package to (probably <path_to_program_files>\KenticoCMS\7.0\Hotfix70_61).

Basically you need to deploy the hotfix files using the deploy parameter locally, than copy them using FTP to your web site and apply hotfix sql script to you database and you should be done.

We recommend you to backup both you Azure web site files and the database before the process.

Best Regards, Zbysek
