Different behavior of SearchBox after upgrade

We used SearchBox in V6 without label. After upgrade to V7 there is suddenly a label next to text box saying “Search for:” even though “Search label text” property is empty. Only remediation is to create a new layout of the web part and hide the cms:LocalizedLabel
I think the web parts should work the same way as in previous version otherwise we would need to do excessive testing.

Member	Aon_Vlado - 11/8/2012 7:49:29 AM RE:Different behavior of SearchBox after upgrade I can reproduce this in a brand new out of the box installation V7.0.4. Just drop anywhere on a page Smart Search Box web part and do not fill any properties. The text “Search for “ is there.

I got it now - thank you. I thought that the exisitng search box is modified.

Thank you for letting us know about this issue. Regrettably, this seems to be a bug in the current version. I'm very sorry for this inconvenience. We will try fix it in the next version or in the next hotfix package for this particular Kentico CMS version.

Hi,

I think I was too fast - the default web part setting "Show search label" is to display the "Search for" label - you need to set this property to false. This is working fine for me. It seems, I am still not getting how to reproduce this issue - could you please describe it step by step? Also the other issue with watermark - I have upgraded 4 instances on my end to v7, various .Net versions and none of them had neither of these issues.

What we can try is that I will send you my DLL files after the upgrade - just let me know which .Net was used and which hotfix you have applied already (I think it would be better to continue via e-mails - please send me a message to our support address.)
