Full text search of PDFs located in Media Library

Hello,

My boss wants me to setup a full text search of pdfs hosted on our website and I need to know if it is possible with the current set up.

Currently, we have a custom document type that includes fields for the Title of the document, Subtitle of the document, keywords, and a media selector field that is used to grab the link to the pdf. The pdfs are all stored in a Media Library.

What do I have to do to get this working?

Any help is greatly appreciated

Yes, I have looked at those and was under the impression it worked if the pdf was attached to the document as an attachment. Will that method work if the pdf is part of a media library and linked via its url? - Christine

Member	Swainy - 7/2/2013 9:47:01 AM RE:Full text search of PDFs located in Media Library Hi Christine, What we have done in the past to get around this is to add a description field that the client puts the main idea of the PDF into and then search that text field rather than the PDF itself. Its just a brief one or two sentence overview right now, but it may grow to help work around this a bit more. Thanks for the help though! - Christine
