I need to reset administrator password the "hard" way, editing the database
I tried to follow some old advise here in the forum about resetting the UserPassword of the CMS_Users table to '' (empty). But the system still don't let me log in as administrator.

I just restored this site (Kentico 7.0) from backups and it seem to work, i just can't log in.

Any advise would be most appreciated.

Ok. I will answer myself. The change didn't "go through" right away, not even restarting IIS helped. I decided to give the old "Delete everything in Temporary ASP.NET Files"-trick. That worked and the problem is solved. It could of course be totally unrelated, perhaps just a cache timer that expired whilst I cleared the temp folder.

you can also use the web.config key mentioned in Developers Guide: Password recovery section.

Hi Magnus,

No problem and you're welcome. Reading the documentation is the best idea as first :)
But don't worry, sometimes I don't that there are some "hidden"chapters just a little bit deeper in the tree.
