Is it possible or do I have to use form fields for this purpose? I prefer using the Page tab as the default content editing interface. Regards, Martijn

If I'm not mistaken those are search properties are all set at the document type level under the Search type or as you state the "form fields".

I'm not stating you're setting up your site wrong but take advantage of the document types and use them to the full extent and your site will be more powerful and useful than if you were to have a few page templates with editable text boxes on them. I shy away from editble textboxes whenever possible because allowing the content editors to have access to any piece of the rich text editor makes for a unconsistent looking website.

So in short, excluding DocumentContent from search isn't possible?

I do wonder what the purpose of the Page tab is if a user is only allowed to place widgets there. I personally like the in-page editor and have no problem with users creating rich text elements. The form tab isn't very user friendly in my opinion.

Kentico documentation states: The Form tab is used for editing the data related to the document (Document name, Publish from/to, etc.) or its structured content.

I don't understand what is meant by 'structured content'?

Anyway, in this case I will use a custom doctype and define search fields. That way I can exclude pieces of content.

I stand corrected. If you look in the Site Manager>Development>Document types>Page (menu item) document type, you'll find on the Search fields tab, you can select DocumentContent for the content field of the search.

The purpose of a document type is to create structure in your site. Simply allowing content editors to fill out a form is much easier than filling out multiple blocks of content and formatting them to their liking. As I mentioned, I'm not stating you're doing it wrong, it ends up causing more problems later down the road when a simple style change is requested across multiple areas on the site or when a redesign comes along and you have all this in-line CSS to deal with.
