Changes to aspx code don't take effect (cache problems?)

I have a kentico site which I have been given to modify by an employer. I have access to the web server directory and administrative access to the website.

I have change ASP code (.ascx files) which define document transformations. It seems like when I make a change there is no effect. When I switch to a new browser the change comes into effect. I have begun using incognito mode with chrome and re-opening the tab whenever I make a change to a .ascx file. I was just wondering if there's some easier way to clear my asp cache to see the result of my changes.

You can also always clear the cache in Site Manager -> Administration -> System by click the "Clear cache" button. Then, the server side cache is cleared. Best regards, Juraj Ondrus

I'm not really sure what is causing the problem I'm having.

I'll modify a .ascx file and upload it to the CMSTransformations/CMS/BlogPost/ folder (for example). Then when I view the website the change hasn't taken effect. The old .ascx code is still being used. I've tried clearing my browser cache and the site cache repeatedly, but nothing seems to work.

Usually the new code will start being used after a half hour or so. Clearing the cache doesn't seem to do anything. I'm not really sure what gets the code working, I usually try closing and re-opening browsers, etc. until it magically works. I can't tell if the problem is my browser caching the .ascx file or if it's the kentico CMS.

Hello,

If this still is not working for your, can you please confirm your new code changes are overwriting the existing file on your server. Perhaps the existing file is not being overwritten?

You could try using a different browser and see if your new changes are there, this could help determine if this is a caching issue.

Also, you could try restarting the application, although this should not be necessary for this change. You can restart the application in Site Manager -> Administration -> System
