Best practice - Multiple sites in single Kentico installation or Single site in multiple Kentico installations?
I'm looking for some advice regarding hosting multiple websites on a single web server.

I currently have multiple Kentico websites hosted on a single server. These websites are standalone IIS web sites running under multiple Kentico installations. What are the pros & cons to moving all the websites under the same Kentico installation? My primary concern is performance and stability.

Thanks

Hi,

If your concern is performance and stability, I would use separate installations and separate sites.

However, it depends on many, many factors - web site content, user behavior, traffic, how are the sites and CMS configured, caching settings and so on.

There are customers who are having tens and hundreds sites within one Kentico CMS installation (the most I have seen was more than 300 sites in single Kentico installation). However, there are also customer with high traffic sites where the one site is running on several servers in a farm.

So, it depends on you :-) Or, it will require some in depth explanations of your projects.

Best regards,
