Yes, that is right. When you write a macro, you are in macro editor or in some web part field or in some other field etc., but not on the current document, so the current document cotext is missing there, whilst when you are pointing to the RootDocument, then the macro engine knows, which context needs to be loaded.

But we plan to add the autocomplete functionality for the CurrentDocument to the version 7 of Kentico CMS.
