This is using the Free version 5.5.3981.

I have created a login / registration page and a user can login successfully (seen in event viewer). I have successfully created a new user and logged in as them. So far so good.

I have now changed the page properties on the security tab to require authentication (no document level permissions as this is the free version). Hitting the page as an unauthenticated user redirects me to the login page, I log in and then get the access denied message. The event viewer shows the successful login but no authorisation failure so what is going on?

The page was created from a blank template (simple layout) and there is no content on the page. The master page (and rest of site) allows unauthenticated access just fine. This is consistent behaviour across browsers.

Any thoughts appreciated!
