Inheritance of Language Versions

Hi all,

I have a document and a subdocument, let's say:

Home > Fruit [en-GB, fr-FR]
Home > Fruit > Apple [en-GB]

'Apple' does not have a French version. However, I can view the page when my language is set to French - it shows the English content.

Is this because its parent, 'Fruit', has is published in French?

My desired behavior would be to redirect French language users back to the homepage. How can I set this up?

Hello Chris,

In a first place you have to uncheck the Combine with default culture property for you site in the Site Manager -> Settings -> Web site -> Your Site (top left selector under the CMS logo). And you also have to specify the Page not found URL property on the same page.

Now you might be able to switch the culture on the Apple page and see the page you filled in that field.

This is what I need - however I need to disable 'Combine with default culture' only for these documents / pages, not at a global / site level. Is this possible? Again, thanks for your help. Chris.

You can create your own web part, which will check if the current document belongs under the Fruit section and also if the current language is a french and then it can redirect you to the homepage. JH
