Custom Validation User Registration
I have added a number of custom fields to the User system table and have created a couple of alternate forms for user registration.

I need to do some conditional validation. Basically, I have some fields that are required if a particular checkbox is checked, and they are otherwise optional.

Is there a way to do conditional validation without making a new web part? I'd rather not create new web parts if there is another way.

I ended up making a copy of the Custom Registration Form web part and did my custom validation there.

A nice feature would be an editor for some more complex form validation capabilities, such as having one field depend on another.

You could also develop a custom form control with all depending checkboxes inside and make the custom validation here. More information about developing custom form controls.
