RE:Create site archive by year
Hi,

One option is just to simply move all the documents from 2008 site to a specified folder within the CMS Desk. But here can be problems with links in the old site to some documents since the location will be changed.

I think that easiest solution is to create multiple sites in subfolders.
For example:
You will export the old 2008 site. Then, on the domain you will create
the actual 2009 site will be created on your domain www.domain.com. Then you will configure new website in sub folder (http://www.kentico.com/docs/devguide/multiple_web_sites_on_a_single.htm) and on this domain you will import the 2008 site. So, the url can be like www.domain.com/archive2008.

I hope it makes sense.

I want to do the similar archiving like eagleeg_yahoo but I am not able to find the link that you have posted in your post (http://www.kentico.com/docs/devguide/multiple_web_sites_on_a_single.htm) it gives an error.. can you provide the documentation on multiple website on a single website.

Also in our website we have lots of images and will moving documents or exporting site create an issue...

Hi,

I am sorry for the inconvenience. We had recently updated the links in Developer's guide as I mentioned in my blog post. Update all forum posts with incorrect links is not possible due to large amount of posts.

Anyway, here is the correct link to the Developer's guide.

Regarding your last sentence, I am sorry but I am not getting the meaning. Could you be more specific, please?

RE:Create site archive by year
Sorry i did not explain clearly in my last post. I am new to kentico and trying to grasp the working of it so I can use it to its potential. In our website we have lots of images and what I have understood till now in Kentico is it creates an Id for all the images in the database.

So when I am archiving 2008 website I will be exporting the website and the create the new website in the subfolder so will this process affect the link to all my images in the website. If yes should I take care of something before going ahead the archiving process?

So when i create the new 2009 website will it still have the 2008 website content or will it be just a template of the website? And as per previous post I understand that I will be able to access the 2008 website with diff subdomain.

I hope this time I was more clearer, kindly ignore my amateur question I am naive in this field looking to learn. If you still find difficult understanding do let me know I would reframe my question for you again. But I want to be clear.

RE:Create site archive by year
Hi,

This depends on if you have created relative or absolute links to the files. If they are relative, using the export/import the images (or files) should be accessible with not problems.
