Overwriting documents on import
I use Kentico CMS 3.1a free edition for a couple sites I own.

Making changes to a section that requires more than one page be modified, added, deleted, etc., is now an interesting problem:

1) I don't want to work on the live site directly, as it would make me look very bad to have half-done pages popping up here and there as soon as I start on them.

2) I can't do the changes on the development (local) version and deploy to the production server because only new documents get imported. Changes to existing documents get ignored, as stated in the documentation.

So how can I do something like this? It seems like an interesting logic problem. I can't use the staging service because it's the free edition (plus it doesn't play nice with GoDaddy).

I can't just "replace the database" because GoDaddy does not allow a db restore from a backup file created on another server.

Surely I don't have to delete the whole tree and start over each time?

Anyone else run into this situation, and Kentico, is this something that you plan to implement, or do you have a better suggestion?

Thanks!
Elijah

RE:Overwriting documents on import
Hi Elijah,
Well the best solution is to purchase license which contains staging or workflow but it seems that you won't prefer this one but this is the limitation connected with free edition.
