Is Kentico CMS a Good Fit for this Situation?
Here are the content requirements for a current project in ASP.NET 2.0:

Our current intent is to have a small number of master pages, with a fairly large number of individual pages created from them. Each page will host one or more web user controls, and each user control needs to have zero or more content placeholders.

The content that is to be displayed in certain content placeholders can be configured during development. However, the content that is to be displayed in many of the placeholders needs to be determined dynamically for each page visit, based on a product ID and a geographical ID. The product ID can be configured during development, but the geographical ID is based on the identity of the user hitting the page. We could probably write something that retrieved content from a database easy enough, but administering the content (editing, work flow, versioning, promotion, etc.) is a wheel that we don't want to re-invent. So, we're looking for a product that could provide use a foundation on which to meet the requirements.

We downloaded the 30-day trial version of Kentico CMS and are starting to review it, but before we begin digging into the API, etc., we wondered if it would be feasibile to tag content with product and geographical IDs, build a retrieval leyer on top of the API (?), administer that content without re-writing the CMS Desk, etc.

Thanks.

Mike

Hi Mike,

could you please write me more details on your algorithms for displaying the content based on product ID and geographical ID? You can post it here or send me an e-mail to petr.palas@kentico.com.

Thank you.

Best Regards,
