Sharing One Database
I'm looking to developing a couple of personal projects using Kentico free edition. As I am using a third party hosting company I have to pay extra for each additional SQL database I require.

Is there any disadvantage, peformance or otherwise, of having seperate Kentico installations sharing one SQL database? Or is this not really recommended (or possible even)?

I will probably be looking at running 2-3 sites. Thanks for any advice.

RE:Sharing One Database
Hi,

Here you can find more information about configuring multiple sites - http://www.kentico.com/docs/devguide/configuring_multiple_web_sites.htm.

In general, 2-3 sites are not a problem, I am aware of customer with more than 100 sites within one installation - those are smaller sites (not the big corporate sites, but smaller business sites) and there are no problems with performance.

Excellent, I already use multiple sites at work but I wasn't aware you could do that with the free edition as well. I assumed I would have to use seperate installations.

One other question then, as you are limited to 1000 documents with the free edition, is that cumulative or is that per site?

RE:Sharing One Database
Hi,
This restriction should be applied per site. So, in each site you can have 1000 documents.
