New and Free at the Marketplace: Page Bottom ViewState & Inheritable Editable Text
Two interesting web parts by Interesting Pty Ltd
Recently,
Interesting Pty Ltd, a Kentico Gold Partner from Australia, provided us with two new web parts. The first one,
Page Bottom ViewState, moves ViewState to the bottom of a page. The second one,
Inheritable Editable Text, allows editable text areas to inherit from parent items if no text is entered. Both are offered for free at
Kentico Marketplace.
SEO Optimisation: ViewState
ViewState is automatically generated code which stores a user's current session data placed in a hidden field of a page. The problem is that this field can often be very large and it pushes main content of the page down, which makes it less important in the eyes of search engines. To resolve this, Interesting has developed the Page Bottom ViewState web part which moves the ViewState to the bottom of the page. It works with Kentico CMS 4.0 and 5.x. In the next version of Kentico CMS, this feature will be available out-of-the box.

Inheritable Editable Text
The Inheritable Editable Text web part is based on the classic Editable Text web part and you can use it the same way. The only difference is that this web part allows to inherit content from parent items if the 'Inherit Content' property of the web part is set to true. If no content is entered, the web part will search its parent pages for a region with the same ID. Any content contained in the parent item will be inherited. If the region in the parent is empty, it will continue searching up through the tree until content is found.
