Hi Steve,

thanks a lot for sharing the links! It was really interesting to read how Zurb created their responsive email templates, because they don’t use media queries! In my newsletter I used media queries, which aren’t supported by Gmail… So, it’s great to learn about an alternative approach to responsive email newsletters. My only concern to Zurb’s approach is that Outlook 2007, 2010, 2013 is unsupported (I still don’t think that it was a good idea to rip out the IE-based rendering engine that Outlook has used for email and replacing it with Microsoft Word). But nevertheless I will definitely give the templates a try.

Hey Thom,

first off, I hope the New Year started well for you and thank you for continuing to post blog entries about responsive design. A few weeks back, I created an e-mail newsletter for the first time for years and was really surprised to see that more than 50% of email opens occurred on a mobile device. So, I optimized the next one for mobile devices.

I have to admit that I didn’t have the time to listen to your podcast yet, but nevertheless I want to encourage you to continue to write about responsive design. Maybe you could write about optimizing your email for mobile?

Have a great 2013!
André

Interesting podcast on responsive design, and thanks for the tips and resources. Responsive design is a great way to make sure that a site looks good on any device, and it's not very expensive to convert a current site into responsive. I hope more small businesses will start realizing how important a mobile and tablet-friendly site is nowadays.
