Error deploying Hotfix 48 to remote Installation
I want to install the actual Hotfix 7.0.48 to our remote Server and follow the Instructions in the section Web Site Project -> Remote Installation of your Hotfix Manual.

The command
Hotfix.exe /deploy=net40site /path=Deploy40site
starts the Utility. Immediately after the start I get the following Error-Message:
An error occurred while applying the hotfix. See the log for details.

The log contains the following message
The web.config file was not found.

I try the same procedure width the Hotfix 7.0.47 with the same result.

Thanks for your Help.

RE:Error deploying Hotfix 48 to remote Installation
Hello,

It seems like your web.config file is missing on your remote server or has been moved to some folder. The expected location is in the root directory of your project. It is necessary for every ASP.NET application because it contains main settings and configuration.

Could you please check if it is really placed inside your root folder?

Thank you.

Best regards,
Filip Ligac

Right, in my deployment folder is no file web.config because its a new and empty folder.
I want to use the remote deployment of the hotfix described in your hotfix instructions Version 7.0.48 page 5. I can't do the local installation because we have no direct file access.

RE:Error deploying Hotfix 48 to remote Installation
Hello,

Actually the deployment folder for the hotfix should contain all project files with web.config as well because otherwise it cannot know which files need to be overwritten. However, if you want to deploy all hotfix files to an empty folder, it needs to have web.config at least for deployment to be successful. So all you need to do is copy web.config file from your project to Deploy40site folder and then overwrite files in your project folder with the hotfix ones.
