Chat Module Error after Upgrading to Version 7
Hello,

After upgrading from version 6.0.4463 to version 7.0.4640, an error has been appearing in the CMSDesk with the Tools ribbon menu.

While on version 6, I believe someone downloaded and tried to install the Chat Module released in March 2012 (Chat Module Link). I think this may be the source of the issue, but have no idea how to fix it.

The error is this
"Server Error in '/' Application.
Multiple controls with the same ID 'bChat' were found. FindControl requires that controls have unique IDs."


Any help resolving this error would be greatly appreciated

Hi,

Have you tried to remove the chat project before upgrading and then re-add it again (there may be some API changes to take care of) and then build the solution together?

Also, the chat module is available out of the box in v7 - so there is no need to add it back again after the upgrade.

The chat module was not added back in after the upgrade (as far as I know, I'm not the one who ran the upgrade).

What all would I have to do to remove the chat project so I can just have v7 out of the box chat?

So it looks like the chat module that was added in v6 was just left there when the upgrade to v7 was made, and nothing was done with it after the upgrade.

It also looks like the database backup that was made before the project was updated was recently deleted, so I do not think that it is going to be possible to roll back to v6 and then retry the update.

I think I have figured this out, at least it all seems to be working at the moment.

I fixed some of the Chat related sql tables to match what they should have been for CMS 7 and removed the duplicate chat module that was appearing on the CMSDesk > Tools page.

I did this by going into Site Manager > Development > Modules > Edit 'Tools' > Community and deleted the extra 'Chat' module.
