Error from Banner after upgrade
After doing an upgrade to 7.0, I am getting this error in a few places. I did have the Kentico Banner Market place add on before. I think I need to remove a few entries.
<span><H1>Server Error in '/' Application.<hr width=100% size=1 color=silver></H1>

<h2> <i>Multiple controls with the same ID 'bBannerManagement' were found. FindControl requires that controls have unique IDs.</i> </h2></span>

<font face="Arial, Helvetica, Geneva, SunSans-Regular, sans-serif ">

<b> Description: </b>An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

<br><br>

<b> Exception Details: </b>System.Web.HttpException: Multiple controls with the same ID 'bBannerManagement' were found. FindControl requires that controls have unique IDs.<br><br>

RE:Error from Banner after upgrade
Hi,

1) Have you applied any hotfix package?
2) What are the steps that I need to perform to be able to reproduce the issue?
3) Have you made any customizations?

Best regards,
Martin Danko

RE:Error from Banner after upgrade
1) It is 7.0 Source code straight up. It was upgraded from 6.0.42 to 7.0.

2) We applied the Banner Management from Market Place to the source code under 6.0.42, then upgraded to 7.0.

3) Very few customizations.

When I got to CMS Desk > Tools is the first place i see the error. It only shows up in TOOLS. The main tool page has Banners on the left column, then over on the right column also. Clicking on the link takes me to the same banner management page.

RE:Error from Banner after upgrade
Hi,

When did you downloaded the upgrade? There was a bug in the first release.
Also, have you re-added the references to the banner module project?

Have you tried the built in module in the upgraded v7?

Best regards,

RE:Error from Banner after upgrade
I downloaded the 7.0 source code about 45 days ago. The banner software seems to be working, it just is giving that error in the CMSDesk. When I go into banners, it is fine. I think I have the source code working fine, I think there is an entry in the database that is causing the issue.

Next step. I will tear appart the Banner app from the marketplace and see what it injected into the database.

RE:Error from Banner after upgrade
Hi,

Thank you for the information. By source code you mean the source code solution right? If so, how did you upgrade the v6 source code? There is no upgrade for this and you basically need to transfer your customizations to the new version source code solution. In this case, the banner module is already there so you do not need to re-add it again from v6.

Best regards,

RE:Error from Banner after upgrade
Hi,

It sounds like you may be having a similar problem to what I had with a duplicate chat module in the CMS > Tools ribbon/toolbar area.

What worked for me to get the Tools toolbar to work again was this.

Go to Site Manager > Development > Modules > Tools (click to edit this) > User Interface > Content
I am guessing that you will have two 'Banners' modules listed under that. Delete one of them ( on my site, the Banners one is in between 'Polls' and ' Translations' )

Hopefully this helps you
