installing ecommerce module to existing site

Whats the best way to install new features to an existing site?

I want to add the e-commerce module to an existing site. I have tried export/import of the e-commerce module but the tab doesn't appear on CMS Desk. Am I missing something?

Would running the Kentico Install Manager (KIM) and selecting an existing site then selecting the e-commerce feature update the install?

Yes. If when you installed the website you unchecked those options, use the KIM to reinstall those options simply by checking them and installing.
