Online Marketing - Newsletters and Contact Groups
I am trying to configure our EMS installation for sending email marketing, and am confused about how subscriber lists on a newsletter relate to contact groups.

We have several 'buckets' of newsletter types, think Monthly Newsletter, Engagement emails, and Member Communications. These subscriber lists need to are unique to the 3 newsletter types, and a custom email preferences page manages your subscription to each list.

We are using contact groups to segment our users based on several dynamic conditions, and then adding the contact group to the newsletter for the subscriber base list. My understanding is that when a user unsubscribes they will be removed from the subscriber list on the newsletter, but it will not affect the contact group that they are a part of.

My question is related to the contact group: we have the contact group scheduled for a rebuild daily, as new users are created and would be included in the condition for that contact group. As that contact group gets rebuild daily, how does this tie into the contact group added to the newsletter for subscribers? Will the updated users in the contact group be added to the newsletter subscribers daily as well? And what about users that are still in the contact group, but have unsubscribed from the newsletter? Will it prevent those users from being resubscribed when the list is updated?

Thanks,

Aaron

RE:Online Marketing - Newsletters and Contact Groups
Hello,

Adding/removing users from an already subscribed Contact Group will not affect subscriptions unless the group is removed then re-added to the newsletter. You could configure an additional scheduled task to accomplish this immediately after the contact group rebuild completes. Would that approach work for you? We are expecting great improvement in this functionality for version 8.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Best Regards,
Sandro
