Need help in windows authentication using active directory
Hi,

This is in regards to Windows Authentication, I would like your help for addressing below issue.

I want to login with windows authentication in Kentico. When I am trying to login using my local machine credentials or any user present in active directory it is giving me access denied error.

Question: Is there any way that as soon as I login in Kentico using windows authentication user will get global administrator rights so that it will not give access denied error?

Following is my work around that I did for windows authentication.

I have used Windows authentication in Kentico. For that I have enable the windows authentication in IIS for the site(Name of the site is KenticoCMS)
Desktop/WindowsAuthenticationEnable.jpg

I am checking authentication using both my windows credentials and users in active directory. When I am trying to login with my local machine credentials or any user present in active directory it is giving me Access denied error-

Then I go back to forms authentication and login with administrator account which is by default present and gives right to the user.

After this I again login with windows authentication and this time I logged in successfully.

RE:Need help in windows authentication using active directory
Hi,

This is not possible. Also, according to the documentation, you need to mark the user first as a global admin or editor - which means it has to be created upfront. You can use the AD import tool to import the users and roles to Kentico from the AD, set the permissions and roles in Kentico and let them sign in with proper permissions.

Hi,

What is the exact version of the AD import tool you are using? Please, check the version of the .exe file including the build number.

Are there any more detailed events logged in the Windows event viewer?

Best regards,

RE:Need help in windows authentication using active directory
Thank you!

This is the version without any hotfix. Regrettably, there were some issues when import huge amount of users and roles (talking about thousands or each). Maybe this is the case too. Would it be possible for you to download the latest hotfix and apply it to setup files? This will patch this utility as well. I hope it will help.

RE:Need help in windows authentication using active directory
Problem in subscription in banner category:-
My work around:-

I have created the subscription for auto email feature to get the information about "number of clicks and impression". For testing purpose i have configured subscription to get me an email after every minute. But in dashboard i am getting error "Email failed" for the email id that i have mentioned.

Is the subscription is OOB or i need to do some custom code for that?

Help me out!!! Thanks

Hi,

I am sorry but I am confused. How is this issue related to the topic of this thread? Could you please clarify or start a new, separate thread for separate issue so it is not confusing for other users too?

Thank you!
