My guess is your site either shut down (app pool recycle) or some changes were made in the app_code or web.config which is causing it to recompile. You might also attempt to close your browser and restart IIS or recycle the app pool and see if this helps fix your problem.

Thank you for your reply.

Basically I thought the site was a .NET 4 / 4.5 site but it was only 2.0. In VS in opened the properties pages and in the build tab I selected .net 4.5, which changed the web.config file. Then the save button worked.

I guess this came about because this site was a site upgraded from an old version of Kentico and I hadn't changed the target framework.

Hope this makes some sense.
