Could you specify how exactly are you displaying those images? Is it through transformation of some Repeater or directly through certain web parts (e.g. Editable image, Lightbox gallery)?

As for positioning the image - if it is rendered inside the web part, you could add some <div> tags to Content before and Content after properties and then set styles for this element in your CSS stylesheet file.
