Capture search phrase from smart search
Is it possible to capture and store the phrase a user enters with the smart search web part?

RE:Capture search phrase from smart search
When the search button is clicked the text is stored in the URL. You should be able to get it by looking at the URL parameter "searchtext".

RE:Capture search phrase from smart search
Thanks for the response. I guess i should have been more clear in my initial question. I am looking to capture it server side to use for analytics. Since this is the case, unless the smart search web part or any other searching web part has this built in, i think im going to go the custom route. Do you know if any of these have that functionality built in?

There are already analytis built around the search text or keyword search. Take a look in the CMSDesk>Tools>Web Analytics>Traffic sources>Search keywords. Also depending on what you want/need to do, if you have Google Analytics setup on your site, you can get those search terms from there as well.
