Setting up security on one of our clients sites and despite having valid user credentials I get this message in the event log.

Is there any documentation as to what is being validated on login? I am trying to debug and make sure I have the correct settings for my users and roles but with no more information other than AUTHENTICATIONFAIL, this is proving to be difficult.
