Cloning Web Parts in a Web Application
I have a new install of Kentico 6 and have installed it as a web application. I needed to customize the Smart Search Box so I cloned this control and the new files were created just fine. When I came to put the cloned control into a page I received an error that this control could not be loaded in the designer tab. To resolve this I had to open Visual Studio convert the new ascx control to a web application (which created the .designer file) and recompile. Should cloning a webpart under a web application aldo copy the .designer file for that part?

RE:Cloning Web Parts in a Web Application
Hello.

For web application this behavior is correct. You can find many articles about it e.g. using Google. So, when using web application, you need to add given files into the project and create .designer file manually.
