Glad to see this module :)

What features does the forum system have? It seems to be very basic, lacking registration and user profiles for example.

I am looking for the following functionality:

- User registration for the forums and other 'protected' content only viewable to who has logged in
- Moderation and the moderator figure
- Member profiles and the option to define 'special members'. For example, I would like to have one of our commercial partners to have his company's logo appear next to his name when he posts
- Standard forum functionality: close thread, open clsoed thread, make a thread 'sticky'
- A site-wide search that indexes discussions

Well, this is my wish list. My question is how close this is to what you offer?

Thanks,
Lawrence

Re: Forums
Hi Lawrence,

The Forums module in Kentico CMS is a basic forums module. Here are some comments to your questions:

- User registration for the forums and other 'protected' content only viewable to who has logged in
[Kentico CMS] You can create protected sections of the web site with content and forums available only to people who have a user account and appropriate permissions.

- Moderation and the moderator figure
[Kentico CMS] You can specify moderators who approve/delete posts in all forums.

- Member profiles and the option to define 'special members'. For example, I would like to have one of our commercial partners to have his company's logo appear next to his name when he posts
[Kentico CMS] You would have to modify the forums controls (they are delivered in source code as .ascx controls).

- Standard forum functionality: close thread, open clsoed thread, make a thread 'sticky'
[Kentico CMS] You can specify if a particular forum is open for new posts or not.

- A site-wide search that indexes discussions
[Kentico CMS] This is currently not supported. It will included be in Kentico CMS 2.0.

Best Regards,
