Configuring SMTP Servers - Cannot save settings
I am trying to configure an SMTP server on a clients production server. The site was originally configured on a development server where a username and password were required for the SMTP server.

On the production server there is no username and password required for the SMTP server. I try to delete the SMTP server user and SMTP server password from Settings > System >Emails > SMTP Server but it won't let me save a blank field. As a result I get an error message. How can I configure the settings given this issue?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

RE:Configuring SMTP Servers - Cannot save settings
Hello,

Could you please write me, which error do you get (or post a screenshot)? Is there a related error created in the Event log (Site Manager -> Administration)? Have you applied any hotfix?

Best regards,
Jan Hermann

RE:Configuring SMTP Servers - Cannot save settings
Hi Jan,

I figured out what was going on. Two things. Neither had anything to do with Kentico.

The browser was inserting a saved username and password into the field. Once I cleared my browser cache I was able to save the empty fields for the email server settings.

The other problem was at my webserver level with a firewall issue blocking the mail server port. Once I corrected those things I was able to send emails through the SiteManager > Administration > System > Email interface.

Thanks for your help.
