CMSInstall Issues with Live Site
Working with a client right now and they have a 6.0.23 site running just fine although every now and then, the site just redirects to the CMSInstall/Install.aspx page and the only way to get it resolved is to reset IIS or recycle the app pool.

From my experience, if there is no connection string in the web.config file, the system will redirect to that page but where is the code that detects that? Secondly, if I remove the cmsinstall directory, will there be problems later if I perform an upgrade? Thirdly, why does this continue to happen? Is there a known IIS issue or is it a bug in Kentico?

RE:CMSInstall Issues with Live Site
Hi,

What is the environment where the CMS is running? Is it a cloud?
Does this happen after the application start (you can check the event log)?
Also, what is set in the IIS application pool for given application - setting "Maximum number or worker processes"? This setting must be set to 1 (one).

Best regards,
Juraj Ondrus

RE:CMSInstall Issues with Live Site
Running Server 2008 in a local environment. Unable to tell if it is only happening on app start or not. Unable to manually reproduce it but it does only happen on the live server (not staging or test).

In the Kentico event log there are "page not found" errors and the server event log there are bad request events.

The max worker processes is set to 1.

Any ideas based on "page not found" errors?

RE:CMSInstall Issues with Live Site
Hi,

What is the exact page not found error?
Are there any application start/end events logged in the event log? anything interesting in the Windows Event viewer?

Best regards,
